Farnham Youth Choir, Senior Choir, winners of two gold medals at the Interkultur World Choir Games (Auckland 2024) and the Junior Choir, finalists of the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition (March 2025) will be joined by the youngest members of the FYC family to share their gift; the love of singing and performing at the highest level. 

This concert will celebrate contemporary female composers including Tracy Wong and Caroline Shaw, with acclaimed violist Shephen Upshaw and the world premiere of a commission by the Master of the King’s Music, Errollyn Wallen CBE. The commission was generously funded by The Humphrey Richardson Taylor Charitable Trust.

As part of their summer tour, our Senior Choir will stop off to sing ‘Sea Shores’ to Mary Anning’s newly erected statue in Lyme Regis. ‘Sea Shores’ makes up one third of the FYC commissioned ‘Herstory’ song cycle (written by our composer in residence for 2022, Russell Hepplewhite, with librettist Helen Eastman) that celebrates brilliant women from history. The other women celebrated are Caroline Herschel in ‘Comet Crazy’ and Katherine Johnson in ‘In the Numbers’. This is an open air performance and will therefore be weather dependent.

As part of our summer tour, the Senior Choir will be performing a free concert at the picturesque St Mylor Church, near Falmouth.

As part of their tour of Cornwall, the Senior Choir will perform a concert at King Charles the Martyr Church, Falmouth. This will be a free concert, with a retiring collection in aid of the RNLI, Falmouth.

As part of their summer tour, our Senior Choir will be performing at the beautiful chapel on St Michael’s Mount. Entry to the concert is free, but visitors will need to make their own way to the island and pay for entry (choir members’ families may visit the island for free to attend the concert). It’s been three years since FYC performed at The Menuhin Hall and all three choirs are looking forward to returning this summer to celebrate an exciting year of music-making and to bid a fond farewell to our former Artistic Director, Joanna Tomlinson. We will be premièring ‘Herstory’, a set of works for our three choirs by our Composer in Residence 2021–22, Russell Hepplewhite.

We are recruiting for new members to join all three of our Choirs in September 2022.

Auditions will be held during the morning of Sunday 12th June for children currently in school years 4 - 7 (Junior Choir) and singers in school years 8 and above (Senior Choir). The audition is very informal and only lasts 10 mins.

We will also be welcoming new members into our Training Choir (school year 3 & 4). There is no audition to join Training Choir so anyone can come along!

FYC Senior Choir will be joined by the internationally recognised harpist, Keziah Thomas, for this magical performance of Britten’s, A Ceremony of Carols and other songs from the FYC repertoire.
